He no doubt believes the right-wing conspiracy theory that Hillary Clinton was personally responsible for that deal, when she was just one of many government officials to sign off on it (and it involved non-weapons-grade uranium that never left the country).

That’s hilarious, since it’s the right which is constantly projecting. As I said, there’s a good reason that women mostly vote for Democrats now — they know which party is on their side. As for “biology”, it’s funny how right-wingers will occasionally attempt to use science, which they usually have no respect for at all, to defend their hateful talking points, and in doing so they show that their understanding of it is so rudimentary that it’s essentially non-existent. In this case, the actual science of biology doesn’t say what you think it says.

No, the one where he starts crossing the street and the “Walk” sign changes to a flashing “Don’t Walk”, so he stops in the middle of the road.

Consistency isn’t a Republican trait, though hypocrisy is. Along with projection and made-up BS, both of which can be seen in the comment immediately above mine.

This makes me think of that scene from Rain Man.

Yes, there really wasn’t much difference between Hitler and Stalin, and it’s true that the right would not like being called communist. But I think the MAGA rhetoric and playbook is more reminiscent of fascism than Stalinism. Anyway, the name Pumpkin Hitler is one my then-seven-year-old daughter came up with way back in 2016, so I’m used to it, though there are plenty of other options (“Mango Mussolini” is another popular one in the same vein). Perhaps if I see a good name for Don the Con that riffs off Stalin, I’ll make use of it.

    What a load of nonsense.

The most recent survey was the APSA one from this year, which included 154 historians and presidential experts from all parts of the political spectrum. The scholars who identified as conservative and Republican did not rank DT in last place, but even they had him in the bottom five. The one which broke down their ratings into different qualities such as “Integrity” was actually a different survey, the Siena College one from 2022 (I couldn’t find the number of scholars surveyed for that one, but it is a similar group of experts). In that one, DT, while scoring poorly in nearly all categories and at the very bottom in Background, Integrity, Intelligence, Executive Appointments, and Foreign Policy Accomplishments, came in third from last overall, mostly because he scored relatively high on Luck and Willingness to Take Risks.

The presidents usually rated the worst in history include James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Franklin Pierce, and Warren G. Harding, with Harding generally rated the worst in the 20th century. But in the latest survey of presidential scholars, DT was placed dead last, scoring well below Buchanan, who was second to last. Nixon and Dubya actually ranked 35 and 32 respectively (out of 45). Nixon did, however, score second to last in “Integrity”. No prizes for guessing who scored the worst in that category.

The Associated Press numbers aren’t as complete as some of the others (as can be seen by the fact that the vote totals they show for both candidates are lower than those given by other sources). The most complete numbers seem to be those from the Cook Political Report.
