Unless someone can come up with a better example, I think this storyline is the most silly of any storyline in this strip’s history—followed closely by Peppermint Patty going to obedience school.
I first read Charlie Brown’s dialogue as “once we get out OF the country.” For a second there, I imagined that he and Patty were fugitives on the run from the law.
The ball hit the stick. Did they win? Is the game over? Again, I’m unfamiliar with the rules of croquet. Kind of looks fun, though. Sort of like golf but without the club dues, expensive clubs, and having to dig holes in your backyard.
What is it with Patty and Violet and all their parties? Did they really want to have friends over and have a good time, or were they thrown for the sole purpose of excluding Charlie Brown?
I’m unfamiliar with the rules of croquet. Did Charlie Brown do something wrong, or did he do something Patty didn’t like? Was it her turn? He’s hitting his ball again, so that can’t be it.
I completely agree with everything you said—especially helicopter Snoopy, which I’ve mentioned here before.
